Question: What is an Excess or Deductible? Answer: An Excess or Deductible is an amount of every claim which is not covered by the insurance policy hence, this must be paid up front before repairs are done in the event of an accident.
Question: What is a Young or Inexperienced Driver? Answer: A Young Driver is someone who is under the age of 25yrs. An Inexperience Driver is someone who has had a valid driver’s permit for less than two (2) years.
Question: What is a No Claim Discount (NCD)? Answer: A No Claim Discount (NCD) is a reward in the form of a discount that is allowed on an annual basis once there has been no claims or accidents. No Claim Discounts are earned on each insured vehicle. However, it can be transferred to a second vehicle in order to reduce the premium that may be charged on that vehicle. The first vehicle from which the NCD was transferred will then start afresh and begin to earn its own NCD based on its accident history.
Question: What is Comprehensive Insurance? Answer: Comprehensive insurance covers physical loss or damage to your motor vehicle caused by:-
• Accidental collision and overturning
• Fire, lightning, explosion
• Burglary, housebreaking or theft
• Riot, civil commotion, strike and malicious damage.
This policy covers your own damage and liability to third parties as required by law.
Question: What is Third Party Fire & Theft Insurance? Answer: Third Party Fire & Theft covers Loss or Damage from fire, explosion, self ignition, lightning, burglary, theft or any attempted theft thereat & liability to other persons and their property.
Question: What is Third Party Insurance? Answer: Third Party is the minimum required insurance by law and coverage for the cost of claims for injury to another person or damage to another vehicle or third party property. It does not cover loss of or damage to your own vehicle.
Question: What is Loss of Use? Answer: Loss of Use is the reasonable cost of a hired vehicle following the theft of, or fire, accident or vandalism to your vehicle provided that it is the subject of a claim under your policy and the vehicle is disabled.
Question: What is Sum Insured? Answer: The Sum Insured is the current market value of your motor vehicle.
Question: Can I use my “P -Private” vehicle for “PH –Private Hired”? Answer: Private vehicles should not be used for “PH – Private Hired” as the insurance company will not honor and claims or accidents arising from any accident when the motor vehicle is being operated contrary to the use for which it is insured.
Question: What is a Constructive Total Loss (CTL)?
Answer: An insurer will declare an asset to be a Constructive Total Loss (CTL) if it is deemed uneconomical to repair - usually the repair cost is 50 % or more of the actual market value of the asset.
